BSVKey · Weather Custody

Parametric insurance · data provenance

Prove what the data said, and when.

Parametric policies and catastrophe bonds pay out when weather or earthquake data crosses a threshold. Disputes are almost always about the data: what it showed at the trigger time, whether it was revised later, and whether it was even available. Weather Custody keeps signed, verifiable records of exactly that.

When a later revision changes the answer

Earthquake solutions are revised after the fact. A policy that triggers at magnitude 6.0 needs to know what the official source said at the trigger moment, and whether a later revision crossed the line.

  • NOAA GOES satellite products from the AWS, Google Cloud and Azure mirrors
  • Every file downloaded from each cloud and hashed independently; the mirrors' own checksums checked, not trusted
  • Verdict per file: agreed on all three, partial, single source or discrepancy
  • Missing scan slots and each mirror's publication delay recorded
  • Signed receipts, one root per window to anchor on a public ledger, and a verifier anyone can run
